The Power of My Voice

Dominique is a sought after voice teacher for individual lessons as well as workshops. In her workshops, she specifically encourages women and men of all ages, who have previously not had any singing experience to participate, to partake in the enjoyment of finding the power of their voices.

She is enthusiastic in her approach and really enjoys the journey with each of her students, in developing their instruments.

Dominique teaches the classical singing technique, believing that regardless of of repertoire, the traditional placement, breathing, posture, etc is essential to all singing. Her preteen and teenage students all participate in the yearly NYSSMA festivals, where they, with few exceptions, receive excellent grades. Several of her now former students have graduated from, or are in undergraduate voice programs at schools , such as Oberlin College, New England Music Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, Eastman School of Music, and in pre-college programs at Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music.

Apart from from teaching the students a repertoire as broad as possible regarding era, she also emphasizes the importance of stylistic knowledge depending on when the song/aria was written , the use of vibrato or portamento for instance.

Science take on singing
